Purpose

Problem
In the process of transferring chocolate from a storage tank to a tempering machine, the existing gland packing type positive displacement pump had the following problems.
The packing leaks during transfer, requiring time-consuming maintenance work such as cleaning the floor and replacing pump parts.
・Sliding heat from shaft rotation caused the chocolate to burn onto the packing, making removal difficult due to the solidified chocolate when replacing the gland packing.
Points of improvement
A full-jacketed twin screw pump model SQ with a mechanical seal on the shaft seal was introduced.
The negative-pressure transfer principle, which does not place a load on the shaft seal, prevents excessive chocolate from entering the sliding surfaces of the mechanical seal, thereby greatly reducing the need for cleaning due to leaks and the frequency of shaft seal replacements.
In addition, the quality of the final product has been greatly improved due to the ability to control the temperature during transfer, as well as the resistance to shearing and agitation.
